Well according to the American Institute of Graphic Arts, solo designers who freelanced or worked under contract to another company reported average earnings of $57,000 in 2008. (Source: AIGA 2009 Salary Survey) If you’re just starting out in this field the average entry level pay is $35,000 a year.

Required Skills

The skills a digital fine artist should posses include being well trained with Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and InDesign. Depending on the field in which a Digital Artists works, it might also be helpful to known web design skills or marketing techniques. Also the artist should have a lot of creativity, and be able to work with the clients’ wants and needs.

The future

Digital art is advancing very quickly, and will continue to advance along with technology in general. The quality of the art is getting better, in most cases, and people are finding faster and more efficient ways to get things done. Pretty soon I’m sure that there will be very little traditional art still being made.

A day in the life

A day in the life of a digital fine artist is different each day. The first day of a project might be spent by developing a layout, then drawing pictures, and lastly assembling all the art. Also it depends upon the working style of the individual, or when the deadline is.

As technology advances people want to see more extravagant, and sharper images, as well as effects. This can only be achieved with help from the use of computers. The world is changing, so it is necessary to keep up on what’s new. That’s why this field is necessary everyone wants to see new and better things.
